My name is Autumn Alt. I am majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Special Education. I grew up in the small town of Carson, North Dakota and graduated from Grant County High School in Elgin. Sports have played a large role throughout my life. Having the opportunity to go to state three out of four years between both volleyball and basketball taught me about being a leader and how to work with others to achieve an ultimate goal. Early in my high school education, I succeeded duel credit courses through Bismarck State College. After graduating, I attended Bismarck State for two years, then transferred to the University of Mary to fulfill my dream of becoming an educator.
After high school, I began working with children at the Early Childhood Learning Center in Bismarck for approximately two years. I was assigned mainly to be with infants and toddlers, yet I had several opportunities to work with different age levels. In the summer of 2018, I was offered an opportunity to work in Mandan's After School Care Program as an aide. This was where I found my passion for teaching. At the Mandan After School Program, I assisted children very similarly to how I assisted children at ECLC, however, there were many more students that I was accountable for. I helped plan trips, art lessons, communicate with parents, order supplies, and plan weekly schedules. Toward the end of the summer, I was promoted to the lead teacher position. These experiences have allowed me to gain more experience with different types of learners, behaviors, and families. I enjoyed working with and am thankful for the students I had the opportunity to teach, for they have helped lead me down this road to becoming an educator.

The Alt Family
My family plays a large role in my life. My father, Jon, works long hours as a county road supervisor. My mother, Heidi, works for Aetna and coaches varsity basketball outside her regular work hours. I am very thankful for the support my parents have given me. They have showed me what it takes to achieve my life goals, and they have been there to support me every step of the way. My twin sisters, Camryn and Coral, are seniors in high school. Although they are twins, they each have their own unique personality. When we are all together, we are inseparable.

Tanner, my fiance, has also been very supportive throughout my college career. He graduated college from Minnesota and is currently working as a Design Drafter.
